Re: Nikasil guys right in our back yard!
Looks like they might be a great resource......I didn't know that Porsche used liners like ours? I guess it makes sense as it seems all the high end euro builders have similar engineering thoughts.
Good luck on this aspect of the job! Tom

Re: Nikasil guys right in our back yard!
that's what i use as well, Joe Gibbs Driven-BR oil, in the engines i build. have a 45 gallon drum ready at all times. i think i mentioned on here before that i was invited to a seminar in September put on by Joe Gibbs Driven oil & hosted by Lake Speed Jr. it was a really good deal. would highly recommend it if anyone has the opportunity to go

Re: Nikasil guys right in our back yard!
Thanks for that other link about the coating process and engine/cylinder reconditioning....
I'm starting to learn alot from these threads about your motor autopsy/re-build.....or at least I think I'm beginning to learn that I didn't know how far this science has come since the late 60's/ early 70's...this is a steep curve when you stopped paying attention in the late 70's! thanks guys!

Re: Nikasil guys right in our back yard!
I used to use Kendall GT-1 10w-40 in my 72 LT-1 motor after I rebuilt it waaaay back in '77...
That oil, from the link, seems to be a one stop shopping...no ZDDP from Kirban mixing with the syn oil of your choice. It's "in there" as they say! Or at least it appears to be all that flat tappet motors need in one package??? Thanks again!
