Default Factory defect?

Weird; while under the plenum, just happened to notice a couple of breather box bolts loose. Got my gasket in today, so taking out the bolts, 13 in all, not one even remotely tight. All in about the same amount. gasket was not stuck to either surface at all, and just slid right off intact. Did little 'ole Sally on the LT-5 crew forget what she was doing that day or what?

Anyone heard of this before?

They will typically be loose. You can put a dab of loctite blue on the bolts to keep them from backing out.

That's what I did...........made some good progress tonight. Both cam covers on, breather box taken care of, secondary linkage and covers back on, coil pack, power steering pump, AC,.......be runnin before you know it......now where is that map bracket?

I guess the AC compressor does attach to the breather box cover......I suppose cycling could work the bolts loose?

Is this a heat contraction and expansion item that loosens the bolts due to the aluminum? Or vibration or both? Im thinking oil pan, water pump etc as other leak examples?

My CCVB cover bolts were all just finger tight, and I was the first one under the plenum after MercCruiser. Ya should have seen my oil leak from that thing being sooo loose.....what a mess!
