Default Bose speakers

Do most of you still have the factory speakers. I either need to have my speakers rebuilt or replace the whole system. Just wanted to see what most have done.

Speakers seldom go bad. Most problems are speaker amps and the power CDM. Radio is a slave unit only. What is it doing ?

The speakers are make hissing and popping noises. When I can get sound out of them it is very faint. Also, I don't think my CD player is working. If I were to remove the speakers and deck, where would be the best place to return them. I have seen a number of places that will fix the amp on the speaker, but what if the speaker itself is bad?

If it says Bose, you know it blows.

Jeff - What type of system did you end up replacing the old one with? Sounds like you are not the biggest fan of Bose.

BOSE = Buy Other Stereo Equipment

The only reason I still have the stock system in mine is I like the matched "look" of the controls, illumination, etc. It would be somewhat of a pain in the *** to gut the whole system, but any current system will blow the BOSE out of the water. You have LOTS of options on speakers, too. A lot of people are even putting a full range up from and just putting a set of 8" subs in back.

Edit: also, look at features of current systems. You're not limited to radio/cassette/CD anymore by going aftermarket. Now you can add mp3, hard drives, XM/Sirius, bluetooth, the list goes on and on. Some new head units also have a USB connection, you can just load up a jump drive and play mp3 from there.

Went with an older alpine deck I had pulled out of one of my old cars. It's now ten years old and never given me a lick of trouble.

Also a alpine Digital EQ, Alpine amp and MB quart speakers mounted in the stock pods.
