Promos are awesome - my dad and I would go to the Chevy dealer most years growing up in the '80s and '90s when they were more widely produced and get the latest ones.

When I bought my yellow '96 in 2001, I bought a case of yellow '95 ZR-1s, the closest thing to my yellow '96 without painting a '96. I kept them stowed away for "someday." Someday hit about a month ago when, after buying my real yellow '95 Z, I gave a promo of it to each of my kids. We have come full circle!

I learned a lot about these promos over the years, traveling to lots of shows "back East" and meeting lots of interesting people who collect them. At one point we had one of the white '89 ZR-1s (of which less than 50 survived). There are several rare cars still in his collection... millionth GTO, '69 Mach I Mustang, a couple of mid-year Corvettes, '60s and early '70s Mopars, etc.
