Sorry, I did not get to read the article.

I ended up ordering testosterone supplement and a crotchless teddy instead??..[emoji23]. I guess they target the old Corvette guys with marketing research demographics.

Seriously, thanks for sharing the interesting read!! 🤙🏼

Sadly, no crotchless teddies for me. I must be spending my online time in the wrong way.

Interesting read.

However, my version of this would have had a $100 K price, and a top speed to take on anyone. Wasn?t the fastest production car of the time the Diablo at 204 mph? It had the same power as the Gen 3 ZR-1, so with some aerodynamic tweaking, we could have had the first 200 mph Corvette.

I believe by '95 the fastest production car was the McLaren F1.

Edit: 231mph at the Nardo ring in 1993.

With a C5 chassis and body with the Gen 3 LT5, we could have been a contender. Remember the Sledgehammer did 250+ mph.

It?s pretty hard, for me at least, to consider the F1 a production car, with only 64 cars being produced.

Same here; nonetheless it's still widely accepted as one. It was a homologation car IIRC. Pretty unrealistic car to be considered a production vehicle IMO. Seems like quite a reach.

Maybe it's just for bragging rights. I guess they made 106 of them just so 106 people can say it's a production car 🤔

64 were street cars. The rest were 5 prototypes and track only racing cars.

If GM wanted to make a true 200 mph statement, it seems all they?d have to beat is the Diablo. The C4 should be aerodynamic enough to hit 200 mph with 500 ish horsepower. Maybe a little aero work underneath?

I?m thinking the worst issue for a 1996 ZR-1 was OBD2.
