Default Oil cooler hose split

Yesterday, for my first outing this year, I cleaned up the engine compartment and headed for a small show 60 miles from home. When I opened the hood, the upper oil cooler hose had split just near the crimp fitting at the cooler end. Oil was seeping out, but hadn't sprayed anywhere yet.
Some electrical tape and gorilla tape got me home with no further leaks.

The PO had replaced the hoses twice in 18,000 miles with original style hose sets from Jerry's. This one was only 4-5 years old.

I just ordered Jerry's braided hoses. I hope they last longer since I drive this car a lot during the non-winter months.

And the AC quit also...... Its always something....

Before 2014, I was selling the same aftermarket hoses as Ecklers, ZIP and other Corvette parts stores. They were all coming from the same source. About 7% of the hoses we sold turned out to be defective.

Mar 2014 we started making hoses in-house, utilizing the Edelbrock/Russell hose and hose end fittings, along with our design for the Oil Cooler/Hose Adapter. Corey Henderson made the adapters for us, CNC machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum and then anodized for looks and durability. We make the hose set in 2 versions, braided black and braided SS. They are both rated the same for pressure & temp, so it a matter of personal choice.

Replaced the oil cooler hoses today. Fairly painless job. Only had to buy larger wrenches.

Now for the AC problem.
