I just put in a Haibeck chip, but I also installed a Flowmaster exhaust at the same time. The problem with this is I can't really tell you about the power enhancements tht were noticed due just to the chip. It idles better and runs cooler than before. The needle stays in the middle of the gauge now. The CAGS is not working anymore. It feels snappier too.

I can tell you that between the two mods there is a noticable power difference. My 1/4 mile trap speed is over two MPH higher, this indicates more power and I have bigger traction problems now . This doesn't tell you much but it is all I can offer since I did both mods at the same time. Consider the Flowmaster #17115 if you don't have an exhaust. It's under $600 shipped to your door from Summit Racing.

i got free flow magna flow mufflers on now,so we should be able to see when i put the chip in if there is any gain from just the chip. i dont want to spend $275 to keep the temperature guage down an eighth inch, its already good on the temp. i am looking for power here

Marc states 10 horses and 10 lb/ft of torque. You would really have to see the dyno sheet before/after to view what happens to the power under the curve. Seat of the pants, you might not notice anything. After spending time with the chip installed you would probably notice better drivability.

Horsepower is expensive in these cars and it comes in small doses.

I installed a Haibec PROM in my '90 a couple of months ago.
My calibrated "Seat O'Pants Dyno" tells me that I've got more power. Not a lot, but definately more bottom end response as well as slightly more power at top end. I get wheelspin in first gear on hard acceleration, as well as wheelspin in second gear on my patented "3rd Gear At 45 Down Shift And Go FAST". It never used to do that before...

If you're expecting gobs of more power, this probably isn't the correct mod for you. 4:10 rear end gears will make the car seem like it has a lot more power, but the drawback is that you'll have to shift gears a lot more than you do now.

I bought the PROM more for the idle improvement and also to deal with a cold start problem that I was fighting, which it did nicely. The CAGS removal, the temperature moderation and the additional HP were NICE side benefits, not the primary reason for the upgraded PROM.

I can't remember all the details but I bought mine about 3 years ago and loved the improvement in the drivability of the Z and remember some gains too. In general, I wanted it for all the improvements it made besides the power. If you are considering headers (best bang for the buck I hear along with 4:10s), get the chip done at the same time. I'm doing my headers soon and will send mine back to Marc for upgrade to prevent the backfiring.

Marc is a very honest and knowledgeble tuner for the Zs. I honestly feel anything he does and sells is first rate and he will stand behind his products. Just my opinion from all my dealings with him. I was I was not so far across the Pacific Ocean or he would mod my Z for the big stuff.

Don't know if it's worth it but will find out shortly. Going to order one today and put it in as soon as it arrives. I already have a borla exhaust and 4.10s installed so I should see what difference it makes just putting the chip.

I'm very happy with the chip. All of 10 minutes to install, CAGS is gone, and the car runs and idles better. As it's been said, you would have to dyno it to see about the + 10hp, but just overall driveability is just better.

Just the improved drivability that his chip's give the car makes them worth while. The added HP on a stock or mildly modified car is just a side benefit.
