I sure would like to repaint the throttle body because its peeling so bad but I don't want to repaint it and it not match the rest of the engine. Doe's anyone sell anything close to matching? Is there any light polish that cleans up the plenum and head covers without it looking like it has been polished?
What causes the blistering of this paint? |

Treat it just like the paint on your car, can polish/buff same way. The bubbling is caused by the coolant running through the throttle body

Close as you can get. Jerry is the go to for most LT5 parts. When you do clean it up remove the top cover clean and than by-pass the TB. Issue solved.

Steve We Gone is correct as usual on the throttle body issue with the bubbling paint. Bypass it. I tried Jerry's paint and while he sells quality parts, he cautions on matching just right. I tried painting with Jerry's paint, the throttle body (after sanding) and air dam without much of a match. You would really have to paint the whole engine rather than a part of it. That would look good.
So I ended up painting with a good matching Duplicolor Red Engine paint the air dam. throttle body and the plenum strip. May end up painting the plenum letters also. I don't generally like going off OEM but this made sense. McGuire's Color Restorer X is a great color. polish to restore the tarnished grey. I get a lot of compliments as this Duplicolor paint matches well with the ZR1 red and spark plug wires. Cheap bling for the LT5! ![]() Last edited by TealZR1; 04-22-2018 at 11:12 AM. |

I had a post about repainting my 93 in the car with paint from Jerry's, turned out very nice. But all the pictures are gone and the site will not let me add any to my user CP.
