Default Tire Pressure Warning System Guidance

I had a suspected tire pressure wheel sensor removed since it was not properly aligned 180 degrees from the valve stem from the last tire installation. Actually, the GM tech broke it and they are ordering a replacement band.

From prior threads it was my understanding on a 1990 the Tire Pressure Warming System would not go off on the DIC if a wheel sensor is removed. After driving about 5 miles, the system said it failed and needed service. Did it error out since only one wheel sensor was removed or it will only be happy if all of the wheel sensors are removed?

I pulled all the wheel sensors off my last 90 and had no lights come on. To me, that system was not ready for prime time anyway. Those huge sensors in the wheels were just asking for problems especially when the tires were changed. That and the system could not tell you which tire was low or sensor was bad.

Actually it could with the paper clip method in the ALDL port. The system works well for a 28 year TMPS system using 1980s tech IMHO

with the advancements in Tire pressure tech, I removed mine when I bought the car..

I might have one sensor hanging in the garage.

I was looking at this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LZME9Q2...&pd_rd_w=Zanmr

does not even require a permanent install

Can you describe the paper clip method and what that does?

I removed all my sensors from both my cars. Having one break going 100+ mph was not cool.

Interestingly enough, on my '91, no warning light ever appears. On my '92, the warning light appears after driving for a little while (~ 15 mins?).
