Re: Brand new ZF trans
Hello,
According to the link: Fitment Details: This transmission is a direct replacement for 1989-1996 Corvettes (excluding ZR-1). I don't know enough about these to say one way or another but the seller says the ZR-1 is excluded.

Re: Brand new ZF trans
I'm definitely no expert on these, but I thought there were a few mods that could be done and the trans would work in a Z?

Re: Brand new ZF trans

Re: Brand new ZF trans
There are two issues to understand about the ZF transmission in C4's.
1. The Non-ZR-1 transmission has a shorter input shaft and housing. The input shaft and housing from a donor ZR-1 version can be installed to make the transmission fit in a ZR-1. 2. The later model ZF transmissions have a small diameter input shaft housing and the Throw-out Bearing has internal nylon strips that slide on the input housing. To use the later model transmission on a early model ZR-1, the correct throw-out bearing must be installed. I think that the change occurred in 1994 but you should verify the fit of the throw out bearing on the housing before installing the clutch. I learned this the hard way during a clutch swap job when the transmission could not be installed. Jim

Re: Brand new ZF trans
It’s a last version Blue label 1052 000 089 for LT1/LT4.
Here’s another new one closer to home but also an LT1/LT4 version. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/pts...347609352.html For the money, to buy one and convert the input shaft, I might as well just send mine to Bill B and have him rebuild it. H
