original windshield
What is a fair price for a 1991 take out with no delamination. I've seen so few of these for sale that I'm not sure what to ask for the one I'm taking out of the parts car I got. There are two with delamination on ebay right now. One for 650 and one for 799. Thanks for the help.

Re: original windshield
Based on what my insurance company told me they would allow if I found an original windshield you are way, way, way low for an original with no delam.

Re: original windshield
Okay I will bite. This is what I would pay if I were in the marketplace. 1000 or so if it is a 50000 mile windshield. 2000 in near new condition. By 50000 miles there are a lot of sand pits showing up from driving. A few years ago I heard there was one nos available in the marketplace. I do not know if anybody has any other nos stashed. Not counting reproductions. IMHO. George PS. David, care to post the price the insurance company indicated?

Re: original windshield
$3200. I was presenting a receipt for reimbursement of a repop I had installed and I thought they were going to balk at the $1600 price. He instantly rubber stamped it for full reimbursement and said when he pulled up 1994 ZR-1 it showed $3200 for a replacement cost of an OEM part.

Re: original windshield
Yep 900 to 1000 is the max I would pay for a used original. Delam is not the only problem the OEM window had as they also become pitted etc.
I would pay more for the repro as its brand new and wont delaminate. The last one that was available without delam I was quoted $600. Then there is the shipping issue. Basically a crate etc

Yes on shipping and then installation which I had a windshield installed by Safelite for only $150 because the guy liked Corvettes and I did not require a warranty. And I furnished my own new Molding. And there is a difference between 90'-92' and 93'-95' (I think the Radar Opening) which I use as Garmin and XM Antennae opening. I think any ZR-1 windshield with fit any year however if you are not particular about the Radar Opening There might also be a BIG difference in price for a used windshield with NO Delamination as that would be a proven properly built windshield in the first place which would last indefinitely unless you got a rock chip. If after inspection....NO Chips at all (takes close inspection) and NO Delamination.....then almost new price. And an original might be worth a bit more than an untested reproduction in that case. So we have $600 to $3200 depending on condition. And keep in mind the Year. And keep in mind the shipping especially if you can Inspect yourself and Pick Up yourself. And keep in mind Safelite may or may not give you a deal. And keep in mind New Molding. And keep in mind an installation warranty

Re: original windshield
Thanks guys. This is a 1991 (large cutout) with 29,000 original miles, so pitting should be minimal.

Re: original windshield
I would think you'd be able to get $1800 to $2000. The question is if I could have found an original for $300 more would I have felt it was worth it. In my case probably not. This brand new windshield is stunning in it's clarity. And my car will not suffer in value with me using a repop. Too many mods already. But to a guy with an original car your WS may be worth $3000 just to stay with an OEM part.

Re: original windshield
The 91 windshield is the wrong windshield for you car, You need a late model windshield. Just so happens I have a brand new one in the box.
