Default Bose Golden oldie

I bought 91/1388 a few weeks back and I'm really loving it. Of course it has a few things that I sorting out- namely the Bose Gold system.

When I got it, only the head unit worked. It seemed to change stations, spin the CD..etc, but no sound.

I replace the CDM unit last weekend (Only replacing my heater core on my 82 Vette was more of a beat down) with a rebuilt unit and it seemed to work but I have only one speaker (RF) working.

So, the way I understand how the system operates is that I probably have bad amps on the rest of the system?

I'm just double checking that I'm not missing something obvious before I tackle the amp issue.

Thanks!

I haven't turned mine on in 20 years; I don't even know if mine works!

Bill It sounds to me, no un intended, that it is your amps. There are a few solutions, there is a guy in Huntsville that redoes the Bose speaker I don't have the contact info. Also I think you can send the speakers back to Bose and they will redo them, and finally there is the Nissan Maxima speakers which can be obtained via salvage yards. There are details on all of these options here on the board, I can;t keep that information in my head. I think a couple of the Texas guys have used Don in Huntsville so maybe they will chime in.

I will second it is the amps. FYI. When I got my car the sound system did not work. First I had the head unit repaired as it did not take CD's or tape. When it was returned I then was able to test the remaining system and found the front speakers were out. I sent amps out for repair and once they installed the system worked or so it seemed. A few years later the right rear speaker quick working (bad amp) decided to have both rear amps sent for repair/inspection. I got a call from the repair shop and they wanted to be sure that I had provided them with the correct information as to what vehicle these came from. Because the amps that I sent them were made for a Cadillac. So after a discussion with them they sent me replacement amps that were correct for the corvette. Once they were installed the system sounded much better.

Dr. Don in TX does a great job rebuilding the CD player, reconditioning the complete unit and can add in a AUX to your stock unit so you can add XM or play through your phone.

Yep, I thought they were one integrated unit but I may be mistaken. I need to do mine as well they work but the sound quality is off.

I pick up four amps tomorrow. I'll (try) to do a bit of testing before I rip everything apart.

Fortunately, I'd really rather listen to engine than old Donnie Iris.

(Ah Leah!)

You'd give up listening to the engine if you
ever heard Christine Ohlman's cover
of "Take Me To The River"!!!
