Default East Texas Area ZR-1 Owner Needs Help

I have a '94...#445...it has been sitting in my garage for a couple of years...it was running at the time of storage. I had been keeping it on a trickle charger and would start it up occasionally. A few months back I tried to start it...no response...not even a starter click sound. Went and got a new battery, thinking that was the issue...installed the new battery...still, not even a starter click. Took the battery back for an exchange thinking that might have been the issue...they load tested it and said it was good.

Putting out a call for mechanically inclined ZR-1 owners in the area/vacinity of East Texas...Beaumont is a nearby larger city...for reference purposes. I will make it worth while for any on-site assistance/help to get it running again. At this point I'm concerned about fuel stagnation becoming a bigger issue later due to not being able to keeping it running.

Thanks,
Clint

Are the interior lights coming on ? The start up lights in the DIC? Is the security light flashing ?

Or are you reporting you have ZERO power. Or POWER but no start ?

I agree w/ Daryl (above), far as some clues go.

Here is a link to an article by Marc Haibeck regarding starter issues. Some very good info here, and in particular his procedure for "waking up" a starter that may not have been exercised for a while.

Below is a starter circuit diagram of the 93+ cars. In RED is the high current path to the starter. The GREEN path is that of the relay current; relays that handle the heavy current. (You may read a lot about a "installing a RELAY" in some threads, including a relay schematic. However, this modification I designed for the 90-92s and shouldn't be confused with the 93-95 cars. (HOWEVER, that isn't to say your clutch switch couldn't be the problem: just not nearly as likely.)

Keep us posted...

Thanks for the quick replies...in my initial post I should have added that the complete electrical system is dead...and that I had already suspected a single point of failure...or at least that's a logical assumption for me.

I guess it's time to break out the test light and VOM, and some troubleshooting.

Thanks for the schematic that was posted.

Id pull the battery and start with the cables. You mentioned this was stored for a while so rodents chewing up the wires would be an area of concern.

Start at the terminal block behind the battery - corrosion is your enemy - that's the distribution center for all the vehicle's power.
