Default Fidanza Flywheel Question

Just to make sure....I was pondering purchasing a Fidanza Flywheel for my 1991 and the stock clutch is in MINT condition as I have had it out a few months ago, SO can I use my stock clutch with the Fidanza Flywheel? Will it just bolt up with no issues?

Johnny,

Since the Fidanza is a single mass FW, I would strongly recommend installing
a "sprung hub" disc like the Camaro LT-1 disc to mitigate the gear rattle.

Yep! Sprung hub (Camaro) disc, AND the longer (ARP) bolts.

I too love the Fidanza FW mod.

Yes!

I'm away from my office just now, but I'll post the part number soon as I get back.

I know Ron Woods (ZR-1 enthusiast extrordinaire, now departed) had ARP custom-make the longer bolts for his parts business... I have them in my Zee and am an avid advocate of their use when coupling the OE clutch to the Fidanza Flywheel.

I didn't know that you could buy them direct from ARP now. Do you have an ARP PN? I would like to buy bulk & stock in my store.

Jerry, I bought them (ARP bolts) as a kit, including a drill bit and a tap to extend the PP purchase length needed for the aluminum FW. Dominic had the part number, and I evidently put it somewhere "safe"... so safe, I can't remember where I put it! But, I'll give him a call and maybe he will post it and maybe it is still available from that source.

That said, the bolts are ARP grade 8s (or equiv) and approx 1/4 to 3/8 inch longer than the stock PP bolts used in the stock (steel) FW. So, there's that much to go on. Oh! I should mention too that my PP is a stock ZR-1 spec unit from AutoZone. If the LT4 PP is used, the length of the bolts is necessarily shorter, but I don't have that figure (as I didn't install an LT4 PP).

I'll go on a quest, and see if I can find the details...

Yes, and (now back at home) the (Summit Racing) part number is:

#381039, a Centerforce sprung hub. (Very nice combination - smooth, no chatter, no slipping with a 508+CHP LT5).

Very happy with the combo; installed for going into the 6th driving season. Maybe a dozen or so 1/4 mile passes is all. But, if and when the clutch is replaced, I'm prolly gonna give Jerry a call and pick up one of his Ram dual-disc setups (and be done with clutches!).
