Default oem oil filter pf970c

has anybody ever hat it leak at the seal?? I noticed a small amount around the base of the carter200 bling oil filter cover and a small amount around the right side of the motor, lower part of the motor. can I just spin it off without leaking or do I have to take oil out??. I think they have a valve that prevents the oil in the oil filter from coming out. Can I get a confirmation??

Thanks,

Just let it sit overnite, no need to drain the oil. put some paper towels around it as some oil will come out. The longer it sits the more oil has a chance to drain from the filter.

Thanks for your answer. That sounds logical so I will let it sit for a few days. I had the oil assembly sensors changed since they were leaking badly so I dont think they are the culprit. I have heard that the oem filters can sometimes leak a bit of oil and even says of potential leaks on the filter itself. I hope that is it. I dont want to look for somebody who can work on this car because there is nobody around Miami that can or will. I am not trucking it to sgc again either. too much wasted cash on those tows.. I drove it for 60 miles since I got it back from sgc in january. ran great but disappointing to see this oil. I did not see any in short trips around town but once I hit the turnpike and drove a while is when I saw it the next day. when a sensor goes it sprays oil all over the right side of the car even going to the rear of the car. Hope it is not that since the sensor is new.

I had to change an oil filter out as the dealer put a cheap one on. This worked without draining the oil from the engine just fine (after waiting overnight as We Gone mentioned).

Prior to screwing the new filter on, wet your finger in fresh oil and coat the new filter's rubber seal ring with it, lightly. Seems to seal well that way.
