Default FX3 Actuator anyone?

It seems I'm in the market for a replacement FX3 actuator; FRONT, preferably, but a rear one will work (shorter cable would have to be extended, is all).

So, if you have one, or find one in your travels, I'm initiating my search and would appreciate a PM should you have one available.

TIA!

Paul

I'm not sure what is broken, =Jeff=. But, regardless of which side I put the actuator on, the error code = "not responding", and the FSM says to "replace the actuator". (Code 14 or 21, depending on which side I put it on.)

Far as I can tell, Jeff, the gear appears to be OK. The shock gear is good too and turns freely both ways about 1/2 a turn (as it should). And, the plastic spline in the actuator appears - from what I can tell - to be good.

I followed the fault "TREE" in the FSM, after clearing the codes each time: samo samo. It just doesn't move when turning the key to ON position - no matter whether it is installed on the right or the left side. At first I noticed, it seemed intermittent for some time, but now the SRC comes back on immediately, and the same "NOT RESPONDING" code is flashed.(after first clearing the codes).

The book says "actuator", and when I swapped sides with the other (left) actuator, the fault also followed the actuator to the other side.

I will contact that "captainzcnc.com" and see if it is repairable. If it is, I'll have it fixed.

Some say there isn't much difference noticed among the 3 settings. But, between the extremes of PERF and TOUR I can immediately tell the difference - when driving on one particular very rough road especially, near where I live.

Paul,

On his website, captainz says electronic damage CANNOT be repaired.

To check the actuator:

Remove the wire spring clip which retains the actuator to the shock and lift the actuator up off the actuator mounting cup. With the actuator still plugged into the car get someone to turn the ignition key to the first position but not all the way to the starting position. Please be sure the car is in park or neutral and the parking brake is set if you have an assistant help you when turning the ignition key. Follow all safety procedures! This will allow the fx3 to go through its' system check.

Caution: Improperly bench testing the actuator can cause electronic damage which can't be repaired.

Look into the actuator through the rubber seal to see if the splined plastic piece that turns the shock gear is turning during the system check. If you can see that the plastic piece is broken or missing then it may be rebuilt if other components are not damaged.

Yeah, that's what my understanding is too. I've never had one apart, so I don't know if the electronics are potted, or what - or the guy is out of his depth, when it comes to "lectric chit".

Stay tuned for updates...
