I'm in the process of pulling my secondaries. With the IH removed I can see the intake valves. The primary ones are clean, but the secondaries are full of carbon build-up. Any suggestions as how to clean these up. Not ready to do a valve job yet.

Chris,
I've seen much worse than what you are showing. I wouldn't worry about it. When you get your prom redone to use all injectors, use brand fuel but not the same one all the time. They generally have different additives to combat/reduce carbon fouling. If you drive it regularly, I would expect a lot of what you are seeing will disappear.

![]() And yes....that looks normal.... ![]() If you ever are thinking of doing a valve job.....do a compression check first ......valve job last. Take your inspection camera, remove spark plugs and take a peak at the top of the pistons if you want to see some carbon (I know you have such a camera) ![]() And...and...and....if you ever do a valve job pay particular attention to the lifters range of operation such that you do NOT end up with open valves, valves hitting pistons, or valves not fully opening.
