Re: tools needed to replace head gaskets
What Cliff said its a pull the engine time. You will also need an engine puller etc and it's a bear of a job

Re: tools needed to replace head gaskets
I'd mostly be concerned on how to re-time the cams. The rest of it looks like pretty standard tools required for r&r portion. Ben has some clever substitutes and tricks in his LT5 repair thread which would be a good read I would think.

Camshaft Timing Tools
Quote:
You also need timing chain mechanical tensioners. Or you can visually even get closer if you want to advance the pinning hole in the camshaft a bit past or before the pinning hole in the Camshaft Retainer. Camshaft Timing Camshaft Timing (Locking the Camshafts) and Camshaft Lubrication I have removed the Heads with engine in car but then camshaft timing as well as Head Bolt Torque application is almost impossible with engine in car. Pull the C-Frame, the Transmission, Bell Housing, exhaust manifolds....pull Plenum and IH to make it easy. I have actually installed the LT5 with Headers attached Oh.....I pulled windshield wiper motor and cover off AC Evaporator just to get those out of the way for easy engine installation.

Re: tools needed to replace head gaskets
I made my own timing chain tensioner a for camshaft timing and used the drill bits above. I also used the ARP bolts Marc Hiebeck sells for the camshaft timing gears.
You do not need the lt5 tools to do this job. You can do it with the engine in the car but it's just easier to yank it out.
