Absolutely! I never got to Ground Zero. My sister and niece were both in Manhattan that morning. I really want to go see the memorial park. I get the sense it will be the same solemn atmosphere as when visiting the Vietnam War Veterans Wall in DC. Watched a great PBS special on rebuilding the WTC and how they got the memorial park ready in time for the 10th Anniversary. |

Its too bad theat they couldnt use their original idea for using the glass panels to enshorud the building so that it would glow at night. They just couldnt keep the glass in place. I honestly can't believe that the towers fell, even to this day it amazes me that the 9/11 attacks resulted in so much death and destruction. Both the USA's center of finacial power and its center of military might both took hits that day. I remember that morning, I was in an adult school at the time just before class someone said a helicopter hit the Pentagon. then a few minutes later the teacher wheeled in a TV so we could watch. At lunch time I was driving down the streets of London Ontario, and I was the only car truck on the road. It was eery. I also cant belive all the changes that these and other terrorist attacks has brought upon us. Some people say that we have won, and that we can go on now. But I dont believe there was anything to be won. I just know my Army unit went overseas and I lost some friends in combat. They and I gave a pledge to our country to lie down our lives if necessary in order to help others. I never had to pay the ultimate price, but I would happily give my life for my country and your country. In a differnt manner I take risks to save lives today, but there are no IED's or bullets wizzing. We can go on, but it will never be the same again. Living with threat levels, babies and grandparents being molested at airports. It just seems a lot more complicated today. I cant help but think that instead of trying to militarize solutions for those who wish us harm at the cost of $670,000,000,000 for 2011 alone. Maybe some of that money should instead be used to figure out why we/you/I are hated so much. We all need to come together, we are all differnt, instead of fighting o9ver differences, maybe we should applaud them. There is going to come a time were we as human beings will have to come together when it comes time to leave this world and set off for new holmes. If we poison or kill each other before this happens, we as humans are doomed. A big kudos to all the men and woman of the Forces, from all the NATO and supporting countries, and to all of those who got this building up to show everyone the strength and resolve of the US and her allies. peace Hog |

Hog,
Really appreciate your thoughts. The "glass" concept would have been awesome at night. Incredible to see them trying to solve the problems they had with it What was also eerie was the lack of planes in the air. I live 25miles due west of O'hare. We're in the flight path particularly on Sunday evenings for landings. Amazing how quiet things got when planes were not flying. I took a flight three weeks later. Plane was practically empty and there were some Muslims on the plane. It was unfortunate for them as they got stares and glances. Everybody was ready to rush them if they made any kind of move. Flight was uneventful. With 9/11, I think of the firefighters and cops and first responders that gave their lives there. When I first heard of a plane hitting the tower, I thought Cessna or Piper. Then actually watching the second plane hit live and the towers "pancaking". Truly unbelievable as those towers were the symbols of a great city. These two goliaths that guarded the NY Harbor. I believe FUs brother was one of those that perished. ![]() |

There is a new show on the tube late at night called "Ridiculousness" That pretty well says it. We'll see if they pull it off. Building something that big is certainly a big target for enemies of whomever builds it. Regional pride aside, it will be another milestone in human history. I was at the TTs just a few months before and a few months after 911. There is no describing the feeling. I have a small bit of glass and concrete from the site. And guess who now sleeps with the fishes. My greatest fear now is that eventually somebody is going to get the idea and pull it off of getting a nuke smuggled in somewhere. Most likely in that one small country in the middle east. Who knows. Think of how the world will change after that.
