Default Cluster identification

I believe that the physical appearance difference from '90MY to '91MY IC is the fact that a '90 had a 260 Oil Temp and the '91 a 280 Oil temp. Without powering it up that's best I recall, is that so? I don't recall what was different in the LCD display. Does someone recall that?

Yes the 1990 has the 260 Deg Oil Temp.. 91 has the 280

LCD, 90-91 are the same, Fuel on top Current speed on bottom

92-95 (& 96) have the SAME LCD which has the Current Speed on Top with the Fuel below.. the 92-later also allows for the digital readout for gauges from the CCM..

the Lettering is the main difference between 92-93 and 94-96, although a couple of the idiot lights might be moved around..

You can retro fit the 92-96 in a 90-91 if you swap the LCD panel, when I had my 89 with 91 dash I had an LT4 cluster in the car with the 90-91 LCD and it worked great (other then having to rewire a couple of the idiot lights)

Hope that helps

It would be neat if the 92 and up DIC buttons with the GUAGES function could be downgraded to work with the 90s and 91s. But that would involve changing out the all the digtial pieces and an upgrade of the IP.

I know folks here would say why bother however I do like the idea and would go there. Electronics modding in general intimidates me and im not afraid to admit it. If anybody was to do it Jeff it would be you....GC

I think for the 91, Swapping the DIC, cluster, CCM for a 92 and Memcal for a 92 it might work. I would need to check the pinouts for both years fire the ECM and CCM though.. But in theory it would work.

1990 not so lucky would be my guess
