Exclamation Does the wiper motor freeze up easily? ---

It snowed, melted, then refroze this week.

I went out to drive the ZR-1 around the block today ... hit the wiper motor , and the passenger arm went up 1/4 of the way and stopped.

I turned off the wipers ... and as I drove the arm would move up and down about 1/4" like it was trying to cycle itself to wipe the window.

I wasn't sure if the motor / arm froze because of the water ... or if my wiper motor kicked the bucket on me.

It was 27 today , but has been in the teens.

I'll check tomorrow afternoon, its supposed to be above freezing for awhile.

Thanks ---

When I first bought my car they never worked (forgot to check them when I was first looking). They would go up 1" then come down. Ended up replacing my motor. It was easy to change and I got a motor from a Corvette salvage yard for @$30.

That's great news ... worst case scenario sounds like an easy fix if its broken.

Thanks for letting me know ... I feel a little better now ---

Maybe I should say it's easy as long as don't drop your tools down into the engine like I did, lol. I posted it when I first joined. It was first thing I attempted fixing on the Z.

Ill check the manual, and see the procedure. I may not have it in my book since its part of the car and not the engine.

I found a new (remanufactured) motor for $60 shipped to my door.

Not too shabby ---

I used Cliff's Solutions to help change mine. Incredibly useful, I'm constantly using it.

OK, well I got in the car when it was 35 out , the wipers wouldn't respond.

I took off for a drive ... the car hit 2500rpm ... and the damn things tucked themselves away LOL.

They are working fine, I think they were froze up ... or they are about to die.

Thanks for all the help, I feel ready to tackle it if I have problems someday again ---
