Have enjoyed driving my Z toy from home to work and back twice now. Total of 24 kms each way. Still dealing with the headlight not rotating, the turn signals that work when they are damn well ready or not. The horn not working and because I am not convinced that the VATs issue is completely solved I keep the Techscan hooked up but no one ever rides in the car with me anyway so no problem.
New issue? Number 1 plug wire leaves its plug and I find it on the left fender after about half the trip either home or work. But so far it has not left me stranded so life is looking up. ![]() Last edited by captcorvette; 11-23-2012 at 09:40 AM. Reason: notorious lousy spelling and worse proofreading. |

I think you need a new spark plug in the #1 hole.

Is the plug torqued down correct? No leak?

Plugs are new and I did torque them down as per the FSM. But there must be a leak so pressure blows it out. Will have a go at the shop tomorrow at doing a re torque. If it happens again after that then will put in a new plug.
Just happy that I am now able to drive it a bit. |

On a serious note if it is compression that is plug wire off of plug #1 open the hood at your home and give her a little gas you will see the plug wire blow off. |

Mine was doing that but not the same plug, do you not notice the engine missing when it pops out? I always did and would pop the hood and plug it back in. Problem has been solved by swapping plugs between cylinders.

Bob you have a wicked sense of humor. I bet you even know what a Spoonerism is? One of my favourite pranks when public speaking.
The Boss had me too busy during the daylight hours today and it is now my bedtime as Zero Dark Thirty comes pretty quickly. But first thing after getting to the shop will do the needful. Have had a problem with "original" plugs here that turned out to be cheap knock-offs but looked every bit like the real ones and were purchased from the agency. We have a big problem over here with rip off supplilers and sometimes even the big car suppliers get taken by these folks. I want to tackle the wiring under the steering colum but am having too much fun driving "Christine" to purposly put her off the road for a while. ![]() |

Up early this morning and checked the #1 plug. Had become loose as was not at tq spec. Drove to my shop and ran great all the way.
Removed the #1 plug and checked the threads against another plug from the same box this one came from. Over here we get plugs in a 10 box and I always keep the 2 extras as spares. Under a magnifying glass it was easy to see a difference on the threads. Changed the plug with one of the spares and will see what happens on the drive home. Don't really like all these Chinese A/C Delco parts but market doesn't have anything different that I can find so may have to go to a different brand. ![]() |

Thank Tom the offer is really appreciated. I have a shipper in the states who ships me my parts. He is located in New York. Would be happy to take you up on the offer when you want to buy your next winter set I will give you my address in New York. Would be brilliant! Can send you a paypal, wire transfer, cashiers check, money order or even Western Union cash for any/all expenses you incur. Do the plugs from your supplier say made in USA? Or Made in Mexico (as some of ours a couple of years back said) or made in China? Will take a snap of the current box that I purchased a month or so back if you want to have a grin & giggle?
