Default Got the Z at Professor Petes

Well a Callaway on the rack and 2 Zs in the garage and one in the drive with the clutch issues. With Petes reasonable pricing I turned the keys over to him on the 90 Z for some sorting....not enough time in the day for me.

Pete has a pretty sweet setup

*Replacing the clutch; sorting the engagement issue

*had a slow leak from the engine, turns out I had a small leak out rear crank plug.....my machinist said he never touched it....not sure what happened, it did not effect oil pressure etc....

Pete took the car for a spin today pre-surgery.....hopefully on the dyno soon

I have not, so shoulld be interesting....

I will let Pete comment on the cars power....it has some different features

*Porting not as big as Petes but it is siamesed 1"into the head
*Cam not as big on the Primary as Pete......other #s same as Petes custom grinds
*Siamesed intake...all the way down....(some say torque may be down, but......)

So I will be curious where it lands.....

Well for as big as Lee's plenum and IH's are ported (siemesed) i did not feel any low end loss drives and pulls away like a stocker i was very impressed, still not tuned.

On the test drive tires were up in smoke pulled hard hit 7+k very fast suprised me i thought ok 4.10 rear gears, when i racked/raised the car i check rear end to my suprise it has stock 3.45 gears Lee don't bother with 4.10's

Lee post some pictures of your huge IH ports

Pete

Shift is smooth.....2nd gear will need a redo.....as you know I picked up a new set of synchros from Ebay for $200; so it will be back at you once the project is done, I assume that means we need to hold off on the Dyno

Clutch engagement is perfect.....

The slow drip seems to be ok......for others, I thought for sure it was me not doing something right with the rear main seal; turns out the prior owner removed the rear plug and although it was tight and did not affect oil pressure.....it was leaky.

and a warning to those changing their pilot bearing, check it with a magnet, some steel fakes out there and they do not like coming out

If you need clutch, engine work, etc...Pete is the go to guy, work is perfect and price is very very very very reasonable..

Especially when you have 3 project cars going at once

Lee,

Second gear synchro shouldn't affect going to dyno. When u going? We could do a combo session.

I'll second that.

Pete changed my clutch and even let me "help" so I could learn a thing or two

Exclamation Re: Got the Z at Professor Petes

That freak-in crank plug cost me dearly a few years ago on the road in Montana. Same thing started leaking after a reputable mechanic replaced the bearing, clutch ext. As it turned out The Kent Moore Tool kit has a special tool just to seat that plug as we'll as a sealant is mentioned in Corvette Service . GM had a few other blocks for trucks with a similar set -up and they had the proper equipment, and familiar with the procedures working on the trucks that had the same type of plug.

No leak 3 years this month. watch it. When it goes, it goes.
