90 Engine pulled now no ac
I had my engine pulled for the stage one treatment, removing the secondary setup, headers, tune, etc.
After getting the car back the ac compressor would not engage. I can ground pin 16 on the C connector and the compressor will run and cool good. I have a signal on pin 2 C connector commanding the ac on. But with the C connector plugged into the ecm the compressor will not turn on. Does anyone know the location of the ac clutch relay on a 90 so I can bypass it and get the ac running temporarily. And is it possible during tuning the ecm could have been accidently set so the ac would not come on? Also I'm working from a 93 book my 90 book does not have section 8A so maybe i'm missing something else as far as the operation of this system. Tom

Did you check for codes being set on the AC head?

Do you have the OEM chip? You could confirm your suspicion about the programming by sticking it back in (or borrowing one). Sure stuff will be messed up for fuel but the AC fault is the target for now.
Just an idea.

No I don't, I have the missing section of the service manual on order so I can eleminate all other possibilities then I guess I'll be calling the tuner/builder. Just want to make sure that it is not something that may not have been hooked up but it looks like the ECM.
Sure would like to bypass the clutch relay for now if anyone knows its location.

Re: 90 Engine pulled now no ac
Ok note that on my 90 I found two relays labeled wrong on one of the pages(not this one). I fixed it on my manual page.

Good luck with it. You might want to make notes in you manual as to any mods such as the secondary delete etc. Anyone in the future working on highly modified cars will need such help.

They may have corrected the mislabeled relays in the 91. Not sure.
