Default New owners (buyers guide)

Notice how many new potential owners have been popping up lately and we write the same thing every time to help them out?

Lets compile a list of what to look for, what to look out for and potential costs of many of these items.

First thing I look for:

Weatherstrip (condition and is it OEM) Replacement cost is well over $1k for OEM

Wheels (condition and is it OEM again) Depending on the year, they can be costly to replace. Beware of the low tire pressure warning sensors when taking OFF tires, they break easily. Wheels can go for $750 to $2500 per set of OEM wheels. Sensors can go for $100 to $300 EACH.

Condition of seats Any tears in the side bolster in the driver? (typical) Depending on the year, and damage... $100 to $1000

What else should people look for?

missing the orig top or got a cracked clear lid? $1000 (well, maybe $700-ish)

old or worn tires? $1000 (probably more, I'm afraid to price em)

----also....Bo$e radio repair/replacement is usually involved and not real cheap. Nobody ever budgets for the radio when you buy your first c4.

---The real cost of replacing 16 injectors and how much more relevant an asking price is if this, and other items listed above have been handled.

Is it even a real ZR-1 ?
1, details on what to look for in the VIN
2. Modifications that may not be maintainable (no documentation) and a mis match of odd "improvements".
3. What diag codes are set
4. Mileage vs condition
5. Does full power mode work?
6. Emissions and state limits (in kalifornia? oh oh)

Could be a long list.
