Default My kid just blows me away.

My oldest daughter has been in competitive cheer leading since she was 6 years old and I was never involved with it because it just wasn't my thing. So one day she says dad why don't you ever come to my competitions? She was upset with me. So I promised her I would go to see her perform at the Nationals at the Houston astro dome. I was blown away by how awesome she was. I just had no idea. They won 1st place which take a whole year of competing all over the USA to win if your team is good enough. Its was like going to a rock concert. My daughter is the first girl in line that walks out. I was so proud of her I cried. Sorry Im having a mushy moment here. Anyway here it is.

Cool Re: My kid just blows me away.

Congratulations on having a daughter dedicated enough to be that good. Furthermore you should consider yourself lucky that you have the type of relationship where she can approach you honestly. Some kids would just shut their parents out of they felt the parent has no interest. Lastly give yourself a pat on the back for being able to listen to her and respond by going to see her compete.

Like the old saying goes, the apple does not fall far from the tree, so you and your wife should be very proud.

My wife her sister and Grandma and grandpa are always at the competitions and wouldn't miss it for the world. I told her I'd come to the Astro dome straight from work to be there. Before she went out on stage she was panning the crowd in the stands looking for me and I jumped up and whistled at her. When she saw me she grew a smile from ear to ear. Sometimes I take things for granit and forget whats really important in life. Ive missed out on alot. I've always told my girls that they can tell me anything no matter what. And boy did she ever. My girls come first from now on.
Also they can get a scholarship with the cheerleading once they are 18. Thats a great deal.

Frank she has practice two nights a week from 4:00pm to 8:30 on school nights and on top of that she still gets her homework done. Sometimes I'd complain to my wife about how expensive this cheer stuff was. Plus all of the travel expenses. My wife and I would lock horns over it at times. But she loves it. And after what I saw I understood. This was allot more serious then highschool cheereading for the football team. It's much more than that.

Thanks Ryan. I would like to have had a son in between all of the girls but it just wasn't in the cards for me. But I really embrace them now. Girls are special. They say it's the mans chromosomes that determine the sex of your children but I'm all man. I don't even have a feminine side. What the hell happened? Lol! Im glad it happened though. They are all daddys girls big time to. I love them to death.
