Default Great Memories & MotorWeek Video: How the LT5 was Manufactured by Mer Cruiser

I used to intern, as a college student, for 3 summers on MotorWeek at Maryland Public Television, and remember this episode about the 1991 Corvette ZR1 and how the LT5 was manufactured at the MerCruiser plant fondly!

This video has some awesome film footage of LT5 production!

Years later I returned to work at MPT, and we get quite a few hot cars delivered to the station. One of my fondest memories was going to the GM Proving Grounds in 1989 and seeing/hearing the ZR1 racing around their track... I've wanted one ever since.

Just yesterday, they dropped off a gorgeous 610 HP SLP Supercharged ZL610 Corvette.

There is really only one real boat motor, the one that came out of the only boat and probably all that remains. The other with stern drive, has no guts, just a display engine.

After the LT5 was removed, a big block was installed. An accident ensued and killed the owner/driver.

So the black letters are done with BBQ paint.
Good, that's what I used to freshen them up.

It's all way's great to see that video.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

On the boat side....the first engine is hooked up to an Alpha 1 drive. An Alpha 1 is good for an engine with @ 300 H/P. That drive will be short lived.
