Default Out of practice...

Well,

Just a few years ago I was able to pull an LT5 out of the car in around 4 hours... Yesterday (and today) it took me 4 hours to change the exhaust! Boy I was rusty!

So, the B&B's came off and the stock system was prepped and installed. Now my 80 mile round-trip drive to work (once a week with the Z) will be much more better. I can actually hear the other systems now... Also Momma will now drive with me

Here's the before and after:

Before:

Prepping...

After:

haha...seems like there is a resurgence in appreciation for the stock pipes. I'd cut the resonator off and dual it out with w either a H or X-pipe...it only rumbles a touch more with oem muffler cans.

I drove her to work and back (80 miles) and I noticed that I didn't have to turn up the radio as much, driver's side window has wind noise and I don't have the usual C4 interior squeaks!

It's nice to hear again... Now I'd like to put in a Nav/XM system for road trips...

Sounds like a good plan. I'm going to keep mine for as long as I can stand it and then dive into a quieter system, too.

My B&B is loud and sounds really good but I'm not sure it's for the long term.

Your new system looks great, Ron.

I had B&B on my daily driver and could not stand it. Once I went to Corsa's household6 likes to ride along.

I love the way the B&B tips look but its a better sysem for a track car vs a daily driver

A Corsa system with B&B oval tips would be a perfect marraige

Yep, I have Corsas on my Z, and a set of B&B tips on my shelf, but haven't found a shop who is confident they can do a nice job with them.

Your stock system looks really good, Ron. What paint(s) did you use? color? high temp or not?
I've got a stock 96 LT4 which I'm thinking of trying after I get back from BG (currently have Corsas) and I'm inspired to apply a little paint before installing. As far as I can tell the LT4 should install OK to my headers and high flow cats, needing only the front pipes shortened and a 2.75 to 3.00 adapter added. I'm very curious about the sound of a stock system with headers ... I don't think I've ever heard that setup before.

George,

I used High Heat Rust-Oleum Calor Alto (2000 deg) on the pipes and res.

On the mufflers I used ColorPlace Fast Dry in Flat Black. It had no heat restrictions...

I think I remember someone years ago that had headers with the stock exhaust and I think I remember it sounding great...

Cheers,
RH
