Default WTB: Working ECM

Problem solved for the immediate time frame.

If you have a non-working core, I could sure use one, as i need an exchange core for the one I found. Like before, PM or Email me.

Thanks to all for the input & suggestions.

One of the many aspects of personal enjoyment we receive from the gasket and parts enterprise, is contact from ZR-1 owners all over the world. I have an order ready to ship to Croatia, but I have been unable to get my hands on an ECM for his 1990 ZR-1.

It's my understanding that any year model ECM will work. If you have an ECM that you know is good and are willing to sell, please PM or email me.

Thanks!!

I looked at the R/A listings
My big concern with auto parts stores, both brick & mortar as well as online, is so many parts are shown to be for the ZR-1 & LT5 that are not. hence the reason to find one here.

PN history;
1228331
16163860, superceded by 16163993,
16163993, superceded by #88999186 (GM rebuilt exchange)
16196394, superceded by #88961142

Parts manual;
1228331 not listed, but ZR-1 net Registry shows to be for 90-91
16163993 shows to be for 92-93
16196394 shows to be for 94-95

Compatibility;
16196394/88961142 works for all model years, 90-95, with correct prom for vehicle model year.

Other Rock Auto PN's;
Cardone #777727 (OE #1227727, 16197128, 16198260) appears to be for 1990 VIN Y (L98), not VIN J.

ACDelco was deleted from the system when I tried to order from R/A. ACDelco actually has quite a bit in their catalog for the ZR-1, but is NLA when an order is placed.

Summary:
I have ordered the only one of the 5 remaining listings that was not Return & Rebuild. We shall see what arrives!
UPDATE: NOT AVAILABLE, ORDER CANCELLED BY ROCK AUTO.

I know Marc told me about a company that rebuilds ECM's.

I have my thread about troubleshooting my miss and it ended up being ym ECM.

I also have yet to send in my ECM to the company but I have the contact info in my thread and if you can't find it let me know and Ill post it here.

Perhaps your customer could send it to them for rebuild instead of searching for one.

Johnny

Thanks Johnny, problem solved for the present. I didn't even have a core, which added anywhere from $200~$400 to the cost of buying the rebuilt unit, IF a repair center even had one to exchange.

The core ECM I ended up with was part of a dyno test unit at Mercury. The cas had a window cut in the front for a ribbon connector that plugged in where the Prom would go. The top deck of this unit where the other end of the ribbon went, was filled with all kinds of electronic doo-dads. I'm hoping that once the ribbon connector is removed from the prom receptacle, the rest is just like a stock unit. Think I'll post a few photos under the tech section for the electronics guys.

I sent my ECM to Tom Henry Chevrolet. Cost was not bad and turnaround time was good. They had my ECM rebuilt. No core needed.
