I've removed the secondary vacuum, plates and shafts. Marc is finished with the chip and it's in route back to me. My question: is it necessary to keep the power key? If not needed, I could replace the trim panel with a non ZR-1 panel and save the ZR-1 panel with key.

I'd leave the key in place. It's just not a ZR-1 without the key, IMO.
