New member with oil leak question
Hi, I'm new to the forum and have a small oil leak. I think it is coming from a pipe plug below the left cylinder head in the block. The oil drips on an O2 sensor on the left exhaust pipe creating a burning smell. Does anyone know what size Allen wrench will fit it?
Thanks in advance for your help. |

Re: New member with oil leak question
Vikki,
Your oil leak is not coming from that plug in the block. The most likely source is the center exhaust stud just above & forward of the allen plug you are looking at. Remove it, clean & install with hi-temp silicon sealant on the threads. __________________

Re: New member with oil leak question
Thank you. I found I was missing an exhaust manifold bolt as well hopefully I can take care of both issues this coming weekend. :-)

Re: New member with oil leak question
I would just add one other thing to look at besides that exh bolt.....take a look at the cam sensor. My O ring was a bit shot and was leaking at a fairly good rate also.

Re: New member with oil leak question
Can someone please tell me what I'm missing? Surely this stud is not as hard to get to as it seems. I've followed the instructions on Alldata granted it made it easier to see but didn't really help in the access department. I've found I have a lot to learn about Lt5s so I'm hoping there is some trick or special tool to reach this stud but it could just be wishful thinking on my part. It isn't leaking bad doesn't even leave oil on the garage floor but it's driving me nuts because I know it's there and it constantly reminds me with the burning smell.
Thanks so much for your help. |
