Opportunity: Entrepreneurship and the New Economy
The financial events of 2008 upended not only the US but also the world economy. As a result, long term opportunity for those of us between the ages of 50-65 lies outside of the corporate environment. The likelihood of job availability for this age group is either non-existent, or only available at significantly reduced income levels/responsibility. That leaves the creation or acquisition of a small business the only outlet for many of these workers. In fact, the growth of small business substantially increases during times of recession. This "great recession" is no exception. With such a dynamic in play, many will take on debt and "start a business". Many will simply be "giving themselves a job". In 2009, I began my business coaching practice, Windy City Coaching, Ltd., on the premise that these new business owners need a skill set for running their business. As a business coach, I work with business owners to assist them in their transition from employee to business owner. One of my clients recently summarized what I do for them as:
"You ask the right questions". By asking the right questions, business owners work ON their business, not in their business. I work with owners of small and/or privately held businesses with revenues ranging from $500k - $20M, 1-150 employees, start-up or mature business. If you know of any business owners interested in raising the performance of their business, enhancing equity and increasing their own net worth, I would appreciate a referral. Please feel free to visit and forward my Linked In public profile at http://www.linkedin.com/in/djsorresso. I also have a brief PPT that outlines AdviCoach and our methodology. I will offer a Complimentary Coaching Session to anyone referred to me by a member of the Registry. Geographic location is not an obstacle. As always feel free to contact me if I can provide any of you with further clarification. Cheers, Dominic Dominic J.
