Anyone had any luck removing the old metal gear from the output shaft? Working on finishing the tranny changeout in a buddy's car. The old-school output shaft gear is metal and pressed on pretty stout. The reference to a tab that hold it on is not there--appears press fit.

Metal gear? I am pretty sure the OEM and one Marc H. sells are plastic or some form of.
never seen a metal one and if the spring clip is missing it might be pressed on.. good luck

Ted,i have seen one of these and it was on a DRM car i had to use a brass punch and tap it out,had to remove the tailhousing.
If you heat it some it will come off easier. Pete
