Default Anyone within WAZOO area limits want a Samco intake duct?

I'd like to sell it to someone who can try it out first, as the fit of these things is less than perfect. So you can be sure the fit is good enough that you are satisfied with it.

$75

Here's a shot of it on my car, and also you can see the fitment to the airbox:

Hopefully it'll fit up better than that water pump!

Man, don't plan a picnic on any days that Rich and I meet up! Always seems to be bad weather.

Good seeing you today Rich, and let me know how the duct fits up.

Yeah, need to meet in the summer. Well, got it on but man fit is really bad, did it arrive from Samco that way? It really was cut short. My concern is the damn thing coming loose at the air horn while going down the road. Maybe I can find another use for it.

Does it fit worse than in my picture? You have to sort of "center" it between the air horn and airbox to get it on both with reasonable engagement.

And no, it comes from Samco so long that it bows up and lifts the airbox assembly. You absolutely have to trim it the way they deliver it. Which I did.

Let me know if you want your money back for it, it's no problem.

Yeah, I did a quick test fit last night. I'll work with it more this weekend see if I can get even between the airbox and the air horn.

Hey Bob,

Just curious to know if it was difficult to get a straight edge when you trimmed it. I know what you mean about it being almost 1 inch to long and I finally had trouble with mine interferring with the the A/C compressor when the clutch engages. It burned some and also hit the clamp, but mostly due to the air intake I have and difficult to get good adjustment. I'm going to yank off the intake filter system and put on the SLP claw as it fit and mounts well, I just have to trim off about 1/2 inch it seems so there is not so much excess and to cut the damaged edge that hit the compressor.

I thought of adjusting the clamp where I want to trim and using it as a guide with a blade to get a straight edge. You're the only one I am seeing mentioned trimming so looking for advice if you found what works to trim.

Thanks!

Craig

That's what I did, I used the clamp as a guide. The edge was pretty straight, at least appearance-wise. It can still end up being crooked in that the bottom is shorter or longer than the top of it. Though I think if it's totally even, it still can end up crooked when installed, as there is an angle between the air horn and the air box.

It's basically a big pain. So make sure it's really pissing you off enough that you just have to trim it...

Thanks Bob! I'll measure twice and cut once if need be. I noticed it is best to trim a little from both side if true even is desired. I'm going to test fit the SLP and see how much difference from the other cold air one that is a pain to get lined up right. I know what you mean about the SAMCO and if my stock one with the stiffener was not in my long term storage while overseas I would put it back on. It is quite thick so I was not sure how it would do cutting with the xacto blade or one of those other cutters that you can break off new blades. Thanks again for your input.
