Impact wrench suggestions
I am looking around for a new 1/2 inch impact wrench to buy.
I have two I use now but they are both cheapies that came with a compressor purchase, and I am not happy with them. I would like some recommendations of an impact wrench brand/model that you have used and are pleased with. I should add that I use the impact wrench for general ZR-1 maintenence, I don't need anything bigger that 1/2 inch. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jim

Re: Impact wrench suggestions
I used to work at a a manufacturing plant that used to build Class 6, 7, & 8 heavy trucks (transport tractors). We build many trucks that were called "bolt" trucks, the rest were called "Huck" trucks. Bolt trucks had their framerails held to gether with bolts, the others were Hucks. Hucks cannot be turned back off as these HD collars are pressed onto a special bolt via special machine.
We used many impact guns to tighten these bolts that held the framerails and crossmembers together. We used MAC, Snapon, Bluepoint and Ingersol Rand. These guns were in use for 3 shifts a day, needless to say we went through quite a few impact guns. The guns that were in the repair-crib the LEAST were the Ingersol-Rand impacts. Snap-On-BluepPoint were next, Mac was last. In the last 50 years that my Father has been in business (Frame straightening/Collison) he is on his 2nd Ingersol-RAnd 1/2" drive gun. peace Hog |

Thanks for the info. Ingersol-Rand was one of the brands that I was looking at.
We had Ingersol-Rand Air Compressors on the submarines. They were great machines and ran forever with just routine maintenance. Jim |

Tools that are not designed to fail. Go figure. My father has a IR drill that his father had. Works like a champ. Maybe Ebay or Craigslist Jim. Lots of these old but great tools out there.

Re: Impact wrench suggestions
Jim,
You've 4500# air in your garage? Where did you install the air banks? I just plug my impact gun into an EAB connection, they're all over the place in my garage and I can find them in the dark! (I know, you're supposed to use service air...) Doug |

Re: Impact wrench suggestions
I have a IR, it is small, light weight, and powerful. I have had it for several years with no issues.
