Default Big Bend Open Road Race

I'm not doing it this year, but at least one of us needs to go do it to represent, not to mention having one of the best times of your life.

I've tried for years to get people to go and only a few of us have made it.
I've done 3 open road races in my life and it's absolutley awesome with our cars.

Here is the link:

Now get out there and kick some ***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me and Curtis can help you with questions you may have, but the event is so well run, you prolly won't need us.

Just don't ask me to navigate, I'm not getting in the car with any of you idiots. Also make sure your life insurance is in good standing before you commit...I'm serious.

What division did you run?

I am in San Antonio, only a few hours away from the race. It sounds like a blast.

I think 130...the lowest GS? I know I averaged ~135 though.

It IS a blast...go do it and represent! I will help you with advice in any way that I can. I'm sure Curtis would too. The highest you can run is 125 though if you've never been...that's a 140 tech speed unless you have some serious driving experience. Safety is everything...

I've always been interested in doing it but thought it might be expensive. Maybe im wrong. I've had my car at 179-180mph many times but for only a few minutes. This would be for much longer and legal. I know id have to work my way up and go a few times before I could really open it up. Its probably a 6 hour drive from Houston to fort stockton.

I think ya'll are almost too late. Looks like it's already full...and yes it is fairly expensive all things considered. But a lot of things that are really worth while ostensibly, are.

How much are we talking here. $2,000 or $3,000. Maybe more?

Easily...yeah, you could have been a dentist and enter ORR's and hoped that you might crash and burn so you wouldn't have to go back to work when it was all over

Machinists have a tough go of it too from what I've seen, Society can't afford to pay them anywhere near what they are worth...My last machinist I hired is bartending now and building motorcycle stuff...hmmm.

All depends on your tech speed. The lowest speed you can run a basically stock vehicle. Rick: Is that still 105 mph?

Looks like the lowest tech speed is 112 in the SR and T classes.
The lowest target speed is 85.

The rules are long but really easy to read through.

Just saw that Ted Zaleski is in the 2011 BBORR, so we will be represented if he is still driving that black beast of his?

Have Fond memories of chatting with Ted and Charlie at the end of the '07 race.

These guys are the real deal and so are our ZR-1's!
