My ZR1 has a hurst shifter installed in it. Sense I had my transmission out due to a throwout bearing failure. I decided to try to modify it so I could have a reverse lock out. Once the hurst shifter was out I saw that it would be more advantageous to modify the a stock shifter due to design constraints in the hurst unit. So I cut the stock shifter into pieces and machined it in my home machine shop. I then fabricated a coupler that has both a .001 thousandths press fit and threaded means of attaching itself to both ends of the modified stock shifter. It was made of mild 1018 steel on my lathe. Next I will fabricate a stainless steel shift knob a stainless reverse lockout knob.
