Talking Rebuilt Water Pumps

Just contacted a guy in Michigan who will rebuild our water pumps for $89 plus $11 return shipping. Thought this might interest some of you who have water pumps laying around that could use a rebuild instead of throwing them away.

That's a decent price IF he replaces the impeller with an exact part.
Otherwise you get a pump with new bearings and seals but diminished capacity.

Just curious....the impeller is metal, right? What causes diminished capacity, the wear on the fins?

I would assume the impeller would wear due to cavitation.

Correct as water is heated causing erosion and pitting and gouging

Yeah, I never thought about it, but it make sense. OK, with that said, has anyone used these guys? I have a spare pump needing a rebuild.

I have one of his pumps on my car right now.

didn't have any issues installing it and he included a new GM gasket.

Johnny,

That's great news, just what we need for justification.

Thanks man.
