Hi Jim,
I have tried dish soap, 303, car wash shampoo and the latest is some cleaner from Klassie that is for rubber & other non-leather surfaces whose name escapes me right now.....bottom line was none were a one shot cleaner. I even tried some of the glass foam sprays...stoner's & spray away. I always end up using a soft plastic bristle scrub brush to get the brown off and then a lot of
303 and a cloth to buff it up.

I have never tried back to black....so I bet that one is the one that works!

I have used that before but kinda worried about chrome. It's good stuff.

Might try some of Tom's tricks.

Dave - The VRT is shine no? Not Cleaner?

I use lacquer thinner on a paper towel... works great. Might not be the best for the tires, but I haven't seen any direct damage and I like how it removes all the dressing. I don't keep them on much beyond 5 or 6 years so long term issues aren't really an issue.

VRT is classed as a 'dressing' but it seems to take the brown away too when I use it. I clean the tires with regular car wash/shampoo first. Adams also do an all-purpose cleaner which I've also used for tougher grime (but keep it off your wax).

There are numerous makes of the chrome/alloy/billet-safe spray on wheel and tire cleaner. I use the Meg's product as it's fairly cheap and available locally. I can usually get 5-6 washings out of a bottle... 20-25 wheels in all.

Thanks - i found that when I went to auto zone this afternoon - worked good. Most are caustic and many of the chrome rims have petroleum distillates which is a no no.

I've had good luck with most of their products, except the waxes. They make a nice carnuba was, but I am going that route, I would rather pick up a top shelf brand. For the synthetic last-step-products, there are many that are far superior to the Meg's Ice line. Adam's makes a good one, Zano, etc.
