I noticed my clutch slipping on my last time out with the ZR1. It is a 1990 with a cat back exhaust, K&N Filter, Colder Thermostat and chip. I have was thinking that if I need to replace the flywheel I would go with the aluminum flywheel instead of the dual mass flywheel. Primarily because they are cheaper and I hear it will help my car turn up the rpm's quicker. I am concerned about the noise factor or I also hear the aluminum flywheel can make a basically stock ZR1 slower off the line.
I am looking for any input, especially if anyone had installed the aluminum flywheel on a basically stock 90 ZR1 and does most of their driving on the street. Thank you, Jason |

Running the fidanza flywheel on a 368 street driven. Clutch has a little noise at idle when stopped at a light. Noise will go away when clutch pedal is depressed.
A sprung clutch disk will help with the moise some. LT1 Corvette is what you'll look for. Kurt White sells a kevlar clutch. |

![]() You will find plenty of ZR-1 owners who fit that description. Bryan recently posted about putting in one and his results noise wise. http://zr1netregistry.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1149 Here are a few more links with related info. http://www.zr1netregistry.com/ZR1_tr...g.htm#Flywheel http://www.zr1specialist.com/HAT%20W...eel-clutch.htm Whatever flywheel you replace the dual-mass with, it will have to be balanced to match the dual-mass. Also, may I suggest you go into the User CP section and list your location so others know what area you reside in? ![]() ![]() |

My 90 has a number of small mods but nothing in the engine yet. I had the aluminum flywheel and put the stock one back in and love the car again. No noise and car feels very smooth again. For the marginal power advantage of the aluminum flywheel I wouldn't bother unless your planning to drag race your car a lot. Just my .02 however. Good luck.
