Rear End Snubber Extensions for Drag Racing

Went to the drag strip Saturday morning to put few runs on the new Center Force clutch I installed recently. Also tried out a pair of 2.25" snubber extensions to limit the rear end downward movement so the spindles might have better chance of surviving this time out. Happy to report both the clutch and snubber extensions worked great. The clutch engagement was much smoother coming off the line than with the privious kevlar clutch and the rear end did not squat like before. Best run was 12.41 at 114 mph with a 1.86 sixty launching a 2400-2500 rpm. Could have tried launching a little harder but did not want to risk busting another spindle as I had a function to attend latter that day. Was running on 315/35R17 MT ET Street Radials at 17 psi. Looks good! Saw Neat on CF do a write-up on that, it was interesting. Did you install it at the track? If not, was the ride rough on the way there?

I installed them at the track. Only takes a few minutes. Don't have to take the wheel off, just jack the side up about 4".

That's a great 1/4 mile time. Mine squats hard like that also at the drag strip. I'll have 2 give those a try. Cannot wait to try this new Spec stage 3+ clutch I installed a few monthes ago. Spec recommends you brake it in for 500 miles before hard launches so I'm trying to be a good boy.

did you measure the air gap after the install ? if so what was it . nice 60 ft time . did you do a good burn out ??

Stock motor, Fidanza Al flywheel, 4.10s, SW headers, MF metalic cats, Corsa, HAT chip.

With it setting on level ground air gap is around 1/4" to the knuckle. I do a moderate line-lock burnout. Spin them in first gear at around 3-4k until I see some white smoke appear in the driver side outside mirror then let it go. I had no problem hooking up this time out. It was a hot day, around 93-95 degrees and high humitity.
