Drag racing results
My videos are here:
http://aurora40.dyndns.org/masondixon0410/ It was a lot of fun. At first it was terrible for us street-tire guys, once you were 100-200' out the car would start to lose traction in 1st, and would kick out (sometimes quite wildly) when you'd shift to 2nd. However, it eventually got grippy and was a lot of fun. I'll have to go look, but my best was around 12.75@114 or so. Sean's stock LT4 threw down a 13.15@107ish, which I think is really impressive. Phil got another lesson about lining up next to Jim, but he had a new spindle installed right quick, and was back out there making passes. Also Phil, sorry about losing you on the ride back! I saw you pull off for gas, but there was no good place for us to pull over. I meant to ask if anyone would need gas on the way back, but forgot. I usually pull off before the bridge into VA and fill up with ethanol-free Chevron. It's about a mile down that road right before the bridge.

Re: Drag racing results
Jim sure has my number.
So far I've raced him twice and he is the only one to cross the finish line both times. However, in both cases he was gracious enough in victory to me lend a hand patching mine back up. Thanks again Jim for helping me out. This time the spindle R&R took about one hour. Next time the the Z goes to the track with the MT DRs on it will be sporting the billet spindles I have been holding in reserve. Bob, Thanks for posting the vidios and helping me out. I pulled over because I forgot to air up DRs after leaving the track. It was getting to be a real hand full keeping up with Sean and you at only 18 psi back there. |

Re: Drag racing results
Bob, thanks for the videos. They are great! Thanks to the NoVA Corvette Club for setting this up.
It was a great day! 4 ZR-1's. We got to see Mike G's beautiful Black 1990. Phil did make it down the track after a quick pit stop for repairs: Here is Bob launching: I made 10 passes with a best run of 12.66 @ 114.22mph. This is a new personal best for me and is a .3 sec and 1 mph improvement over last June on the same track. So I am very happy. 105,000 miles on the car and I am running stock 350, stock plenum, 4.10 rear end, Corsa, no cats, and drag radials. The only thing that I changed from last year is a new set of injectors and a new clutch. We stopped after the races for a bite to eat. It was a great time with some great guys.

Re: Drag racing results
Oh, sorry Phil! I had an electric air pump in the car you could have used.
I wondered if you would drive slower because of the skinnies, so I tried to stay in the 70-75 mph ballpark. Here's another shot of lunch. A couple other people wanted to come along, but we told them "Corsa-equipped cars only!"

Real impressed with your numbers, boys.
