I would personally like to see pics of some custom exhaust setups, rather than the aftermarket mass produced stuff out there. I'm not sure I want any of them. I like the look of the stock rectangular exhaust on my 94 and don't want to give up the look, but I want the increased flow and sound some of the other systems give.
I plan on spending the bulk of my exhaust budget on some headers built by Corey H, and want the catback to include highflow cats some sort of resonator or x-pipe and a livable set of mufflers. Some drone I don't mind, it is all about the HP and ability to accommodate future big cube upgrades. I'd like to spend 2K tops. If I bought stainless works xpipe and the B&B I would be spending 3K easy. I wish the flowmaster catback had one exhaust outlet so I could just cut up my stock system and use the tips. Does anyone have pics of the new magnaflow system installed? I guess if I cant come up with anything I'll go with the B&B and Corey's headers. I think it looks the best. |

No snapshots but I believe with your desire to retain the factory "rectangular" tips I'd consider a system using the Super-Turbo Dynomax 17689 & 17690. These are true 2.75 inlets, retain the LT tips and flow very well. They're "advertised" to among the best.
With your headers, performance cats and a custom mid-system it could be ideal. They're somewhat more aggressive than stock and the balance of your exhaust modifications will enhance that. To keep from "whacking" your system you might pick up an LT4 take-off and start from there. Search this PDF for either 17689 or 17690 to take a look. http://www.dynomax.com/assets/2008ca...superturbo.pdf There was a fellow on the CF in December that was offering up a pair very reasonable. It's certainly not going to do anymore than "nick" the budget! |

Just make your own..
I like 3 chamber Flowmaster sound. Cut the stock tip off, weld to a single in/out 3 chamber Flowmaster. Want more, buy a universal dual kit and start welding. I have done this on many cars/trucks. If you can't weld, talk to a local muffler shop. |

i did a custom exhaust for my white 92 consisting of 3 in pipe a unique crossover and 3 in super turbo mufflers with dual 2/1/2 in exits . i dont have a way to take pics. but there is a sound clip of her at the strip on 1/28 at fontana. its on utube screen name zeusone and the vid of my car is jetta vs corvetteat acd .total cost of having it done 750 ,i had tips from a 90 exhaust put on the exits . at cruze its nice and quiet and i improved 2.3 miles an hr over the corsa that was on the car..

Stock pipes with an LT4 resonator and Dynomax Ultraflow 3" mufflers:
![]() ![]() I loved the stock/sleeper look of them, but with headers the resonance was unbearable. |

if you change to the super turbo mufflers you will lose the resonance. at least mine doesnt have any and thats without a resonator

stock 95 exh is pretty good, except it necks down at the resonator which is also a bit restrictive to cut the drone
it's a bit hard to find 2.75 x pipes but I think stainless works or any good shop can fab it. b&b sell with X pipe same price as resonator keep in mind all this fancy exh on a stock car is worth about 18 hp on a stocker, a bit more with headers the more mods and the more the LT5 flows, the more difference a really free flow exh makes , it's all about "where is the flow bottleneck" I have ss 3" cats, b&b as the 3" is needed for a stroker Lt5 with porting, cams, ect.... LPE tested the same engine (LSV 390) with stock manifolds and stock exh and it lost over 60 rwhp at the tire!! a modified stock 2.75 late model with x pipe and the better mufflers listed above is PLENTY for anything but the really big HP LT5s (600 hp) and will resonante a bit less due to pipe size and as pointed out the corsa 2.5 system flows very well indeed. marc and lpe have tried many different exh systems and it comes down to alot of pref on sound quality more so than big dif in HP on mildly modified LT5s the b&b can be had for less than a grand, I paid 980 shipped from tbyrne a while back on special updating the stock late model exh is a much cheaper and very good alternative but you are paying for the labor and parts so it depends on finding a good shop with skills to do it reasonable (wish I could weld!) you'll get plenty of power, and retain some very good stock stainless steel by sticking with the stock stuff which flows pretty good with the right mods. marc h also confirmed that the stock muffs aren't that bad, it's the resonator as he confirmed backpressure at each "section" of the exh with detailed testing see www.zr1specialist.com for a full report!! I'm liking the c6 "flapper" design to crooze quiet, flip a switch to let it all hang out, b&b released this system, but I don't want to spend the $$ to update unless someone wants my B&B with X pipe it's loud and rowdy, but doesn't resonante nearly as bad as the "early" b&bs that would run you right out of the car at anything below 2500 mine's not bad until 1600, and I have 4.10s so I cruize at 1800 and up |
