Default Mild To Wild Exhaust Control

I know the mile to wild has to do with the exhaust tips however on the Z could you have:

Basically an exhaust cut out that would be controlled wirelessly?

A system where you are basically running open header?

Then you hit the button and everything slides back together for less of a rumble Anybody done this?

What all would be involved and what would the approximate costs be if you were running

SW headers, no cats, and borla exhaust with center resonator?

Also in the photo posted, it looks like its more to make noise, as the cutout is back by the mufflers. Wouldn't it be more beneficial for it to open up/close right at the end of the header collectors?

Anybody got a mpeg of the sound?

Yes, I do recall he has it, I think his system is wired.

I hope he comes in here and posts some information.

Yes, I have QTP exhaust cut outs. Wired to a button in my console. One button push open, one button push closed. I am running SW headers, no Cats, B&B exhaust. You can buy the QTP's in whatever pipe size you have.

That sounds great!

We are basically running the same system except for B&B vs. Borla.

You have a a 415 though no?

Wonder what the difference in sound would be. Actually its alot quieter then I thought it would be. The B&B is definitely deeper then the Borla.

What all is involved in the setup and costs associated with?

Check this out - too cool! http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/...ller/index.php

Thanks.

I have a 396. 4.1 bores and offset ground crank. I am running Stage 1+ cams which you can here in the video.

They run $425 for the pair without the controller. You get a toggle switch which open and closes them. I bought the electric controller which allows you to open them at various degrees of open/closed. $120

Hindsight, the toggle for open or closed that is included is all you need.

The cutouts come with pipe that you can put right "in-line" with your existing system.

I couldn't decide on whether or not I wanted to add pipes to the back of the cutouts. In the video they are on there pointing down. I have since removed them.

Your link is exactly what I have.

So the controller is not really worth it?

Would it be safe to say $200 would cover the exhaust shop costs?

I was just thinking this might be the answer for me. I like the car quiet but at the same time I like it loud sometimes. I'm probably losing out on 10 HP with my borla system but the B&B is too loud for me 100% of the time.

This might be the happy medium? It must sound pretty intense when its open and you are under way?

Intense is a great description!

I can't imagine it being more than $200 for labor. I guess I just open or close mine. I haven't taken the time to program it.

To give you an idea of how loud it is, you said that in the video my B&B exhaust sounded quiet.

When the cutouts are open at WOT the sound is extreme. When we were passed by Tracy's car in Bowling Green on the interstate in 2007, he had his cutouts open, we just looked at each other and said "What the hell was that?"

After that, I had to have them.

Default Flappers = wireless

Pete and Bob G are using the vacuum activated flappers on their cars, and Pete says they work really well. Normal driving is quiet, but when at WOT the 3" B&B, cross pipe, bullet rez, howls!

Mebby they will check in w/ details, but I believe Pete said they installed the flapper on one each of the twin (B&B) muffler outlet pipes. The vacuum line to operate it is by way of hijacking the fuel return line, but Pete or Bob will have to tell ya where they tapped into the vacuum.

But, it is "wireless"! From what I understand, Pete said that since he installed the system he can now hear himself think. (I'm not sure Pete's being able to think is necessarily a good thing tho)It only gets crazy when the throttle goes wide open.

Ya might search keyword "flapper" and see what you find.

B&B is suppose to make a C4 exhaust with the 'Flappers'
