BG 2010 Accomodations
I see that the University Plaza Inn has been the place of choise to stay in BG. There are motels closer to the Museum, and am curious why the UI would be the place. Anyone stayed at the other motels?

Re: BG 2010 Accomodations
hey Hammer,
I have a contract out with the Holiday Inn @ $102 per night and should have it set up in the coming day's. You can find cheaper rooms, but here we will have a hospitality room comp'd for us to entertain members each night (food / beer / etc) and a room that can be used by one of our speakers. This hotel does have an indoor pool and FREE shuttle rides to the NCM every 30min until 10pm each day. I'll post up once I have the room block entered in their computer. cheers David |

Re: BG 2010 Accomodations
Jeffvette said that there is a place across the street from the Uplaza that is less expensive per night. I think it's a Hilton? I can't remember for sure but I know it's in one of last yrs BG threads.

Re: BG 2010 Accomodations
UI has a bar and it's a quick stumble to the room. The Hilton across the street is good too. it's kinda like LT5 central in that area. Don't wait too long to book the room, the Buford boys will be there. And the town fills up real quick with them there.

We will have our own Hospitality room (cheaper beers) and we can bring our own food as well if we want. Can't wait for next year! David |

I've always wondered why the UPlaza too. Mostly because it's kinda dumpy. I think next year we'll try the newer hotel across the street.

John, the Plaza has the accommodations to host a large group, plus the parking lot is huge for people who haul their cars in. But I went to the Hilton Harden Inn across the street paid less, had a more updated room. The UP was pretty run down the last time I stayed in it in 2008. As far as staying close to the museum, there is no other resources around the museum. Just the museum and the plant and some run down sections of town further up the road towards the strip. |
