Default Looking for Connecting Rod Bearing Recommendations?

Any suggestions to what bearings to use for standard rebuilt? I always hear about Clevite 77s and not sure what else should be considered.

Then I seen that it is not that easy too even if I decide on Clevite 77s:

H - High-Performance
HD - High-Performance bearing with dowel hole
HK - High-Performance bearing with moly/graphite coating
P - Standard Clevite 77 tri-metal bearing
N - High-Performance Narrowed for greater crankshaft fillet clearance
HG - High-Performance full angular grooved bearing
V - High-Performance with Lead Indium overlay (On Main Sets this indicates partial groove also)
VG - High-Performance with Lead Indium full angular grooved bearing
D - Bearing has a dowel hole
K - Tri-Armor coated bearing
X - Bearing has .001 more oil clearance than standard
XX - Bearing has .002 more oil clearance than standard
A or AL - Indicates Aluminum bearing material
Thanks!

Thanks John. I called Polydyn to work details about the main bearings and waiting on a call back from them. They sell coated Clevite 77s (not sure which one). They charge $34 a set to coat the con rods if sent in, but those are cheap enough to buy new. I could just send in the stock to see if they can be coated. By the way, I'm leaning toward a green light on 2010 Gathering at BG.

Thanks Carter, it seems the V is the only one available for SBC and P is standard as it states. I see some places like Summit only sell the H, P, and V. Then they sell Federal Mogul, Speed Pro and Summit Racing bearings. I think I'll stick with Mahle Clevite brand but I guess I'll check the machine shop here that will check out my components to see what they recommend.

The Clevite has dropped the HK's this is what I was going to use. They are now HNK "narrow" . With the Moldex crank I did not need the "N" .

I went with KING Bearings with CT-1 coating

For a stock rod replacement the V "Vandervil" is what came in it.
I like the "K" myself for stock replacement.

Thanks Kevin. I am still on the fence to get the stock bearings coated, but fell more comfortable with new even though the cost of everything is sure adding up quickly.

The rods you buy new, they are SBC for $20-30 bucks. I would not try and reuse the old. King does not offer a coated bearing. They are new King's that I sent with the old mains to Calico.

If you are not going to use the old stock mains, I'll take them.

King's are nice being aluminum, light & can help when balancing. I have King rod bearings in my Stingray right now.

Thanks Kevin and Ryan. I'll look into Kings as this is the first time I am hearing of them. I don't have any other main bearings so I'm going to see if these can be coated before bending over and buying new; I don't have a first born to sell either. I appreciate the info.
