Two bolts are reached from the underside of the car only. Another two above these next to the headlight bucket areas. If you havent ventured into these regions. NLT 4bolts remain.

Another White ZR-1 in AZ ? Surprised we havent met yet. GC

I moved my ZR1 down to Az last year & am here for winter. I'm trying to get out to some functions to meet others. Plan on going on ACES cruise this Sat - are you planning on going. I have the shroud loose but can't lift from car as oil cooler & A/C lines are in way. Do I have to disc both or just the oil cooler?

Some cars you can flex the shroud around the lines. Some people just cut the shroud as the portion of the tab that makes life rough is not needed.

I have gotten the shroud off and back on two different ZR-1's ('90, '93). I didn't have to cut or trim anything, although it seems to be a brutal process.

Lift the passenger side off first. Use a small pry tool to get the lower edge past the oil and AC lines. Then you should be able to flex it and get the drivers side off.

Good luck. It is a bear to do but it can be done.

Phillip

8:30 to 9:00am Meet at Chevron Station across form Ft McDowell Casino on Hwy 87.
Address:10180 N. Ft McDowell Rd.

9:00 Depart North on 87 towards Payson. At Rt 188 turn right and continue a few miles to Jakes Corner.

We will stop at Jakes Corner for a little break(sodas, bathroom, and etc.) There are a few cool old buildings here that would make good photo opp.

Leave Jakes Corner heading south on 188. Stop at Lake Roosevelt Marnia for a break and some pics with lake and Mountains in background.

Head out south on 188 towards the 60 and globe. When we get to the 60 turn left. Chalos Mexican Resturant is about 3 miles on the right. There is plenty of parking in the back of the building.

Chalos for lunch
www.chalos.com
902 E. Ash St. AKA hwy 60
Southeast corner of 60 and Third st.

After that we will probably break up into smaller groups and head back into Phoenix on the 60.

Hope to see you there. lorne

Talking Re: Radiator shroud

As the previous post mentioned, stand on the passenger side and pull the driver side up at an an angle towards you. Have a pry bar or something and while pulling up, push on the area of the shroud below the AC-Cooler lines and the shroud should pop out.

Also remove the oil cooler to get better shot at the evaporator to clean it. You won't lose much oil. Have a baggie ready to put around the oil cooler lines.

More tips:

If you are replacing the thermostat. Use the thermostat housing bracket to hold in the thermostat while you tighten down the housing. Once housing is snug against the bracket, slide the bracket out and tighten the rest of the way down. A putty knife works great too.

If you are replacing hoses with Samcos, use a little di-electric grease on the hoses and they will slide right on, including the water pump to thermostat housing hose. Wheel bearing grease might work too.

And one last tip(s).

If you are using the stock spring clamps, be sure to slide them on the spot you are connecting to first, then as you slide the hose on the connection, bring the clamp onto the hose while simultaneously sliding the hose on. If you don't do this, you won't get the clamp over the hose.

If you are using the stock spring clamps, I highly recommend the remote hose clamp pliers from sears. $40 and they make removing and installing these clamps and positioning them right so much easier.

I'm in the middle of doing this to #473 right now. Did the same thing to #458 and I'd like to think I learned something from the first time. It also ran a lot cooler.
