There’s one in every forum. Check the VIN, car 514. On another matter it was the rear main seal. Tore it apart today.

Hans, the plan is to discuss this again at our next Board meeting, as well as other Forum topics!

After three days?
That stinks.
Guess the seller "forgot" to mention that detail.
What is the mileage on the car?
Welcome!

I agree. I apparently missed the announcement that our C6 & C7 bretheren
would be joining us. Glad to have them.

For their benefit, I think a separate section would be appropriate in General, Technical & For Sale would be helpful. example C4 ZR-1 Technical Postings, C6 ZR1 Technical Postings & C7 ZR1 Technical Postings.

I agree with Hans and Jerry. Good idea for everyone, including the ZR1 Net Registry's income statement.--Bob

If other Z's are to be included, please make sure they are properly separated in all topics/genres. C4 Z-related posts will drown, I assure you. But as long as there's still a "today's posts" which only contains C4-related topics, I'll keep my complaints to an absolute minimum.

I agree with this. I'm not sure other z's are a fantastic fit being that the entire theme of the website and forum is c4 zr-1. We'll end up with essentially a duplicate website.

To me the allure of this forum is its specificity to the C4 ZR-1 and it's unique attributes.

I'm guessing that the rear main seal, which is the most difficult item to replace is also the least likely cause. Here is what I would look for:

- Is the oil level too high? Check it 10 minutes after shutting the engine off. *Not* before starting it cold.
- The oil cooler is back there. Leaky connection? It's easy to service.
- The hoses to and from the dry sump tank are back there. Road damage?
- Loose oil filter?

I hope that you get lucky.

BTW Hib. Did you install your rear main seal?
