If it was me, I would use an 84-85 C4 as my base. They don't have CCMs to deal w. My 84 Z51 weighed 3250 w fluids. So imagine throwing in a lightweight LSx motor. Then the EFI and the PCM selection would be pretty straightforward using something like the 411. No hood clearance issues. Just thinking out loud. This was something I considered before buying my ZR. At the time, it was a more difficult swap. But today, they have kits for this. I think ZF-Doc even has a way of bolting ZF to LSx motor. Maybe an LS7.
Then throw on a set of CROSSFIRE INJECTION belt line moldings.

Alnukem,
Thank you

No problem, my VD 368 has been out of the car for 3 years, I'm a slow
Mover as well.

It's funny that you want to put your BB into a zr1 and I want to
Put an LT5 into a BMW 850, we'll have to exchange some pics
If these projects come to fruition!

Take care

Just a note for people that might use this thread in troubleshooting their car, I did buy Mitsumark's car last year. At the end of the day, it was collapsed oil rings & damaged sleeves. To be fair, I believe this car was tracked pretty hard. We have decided to replace the sleeves, rings & bearings. A little additional porting work will be done & Pete's Stage 1 Exhaust cams will be added to the already there, Split Duration 228/238 Intake Cams. I Hope none of you end up at the same place, but it could have been worse!

Thanks......You're a swell guy! lol.

I too still think it's a good deal. I'll have a rebuilt Ported 368 with cams & a free car with coil-overs & heim jointed suspension.....& how about this, the radio works!

The stigma of the previous builder & cams condition will be behind it.

It's kinda nice to know what is really in a engine, a lot of time the original owner looses specs, or the next guy. That info is going in a log that goes with the car.

So why didn't the collapsed ring show up on the compression test, was it an oil control ring?

Were you able to diagnose the issue with the engine in the car? or was it found during dis-assembly. I assume the oil consumption and smoking reappeared and then you decided to open it an see. If you can diagnose a bad oil ring the car I would like to know how you did it, for a future reference that I never hope to need

I bought it knowing it had issues. I tried a few things unsuccessfully, gassed it up & drove it to Chicago to give it to someone who knows something. The Mechanic tried a few things & the decision was made to remove the engine. If you think you have this problem, one of the imports are known for it & it's pretty common to run Risolene or I think, GM Top End Cleaner. Please do your research first.
