Default Limited Slip Type?

I am a new ZR1 owner and was just curious what type or brand of limited slip did gm use in a 91 ZR1. If I am not mistaken they used a Dana 44 Rear end as well. Thanks for the help!

Manual transmission equipped C4 Corvettes from 1985 on, including all model year ZR-1s, came with the Dana Super 44 (D44HD) as standard equipment. Nothing special about the ZR-1 version. Dodge Vipers also use a version of the Dana Super 44. The "Super" designation is due to pinion input shaft and bearings being beefed up to Dana 60 splines and yoke size and use the Dana Trac Lok clutch pack type positraction differential unit.

When we rebuilt the LSD in my wife's 88 Z51 I bought the kit for the D44HD. Worked perfectly. Didn't need a manual, and in fact it would have been twice the work if we'd followed the GM manual. No need to remove the batwing, and when you get the center section on the bench you just rotate and the LSD pack out walks out of the housing. That should (hopefully) make sense when the time comes, wish I'd taken pics.

Best,
- Jeff
